You come through the tunnels onto Fort Pitt bridge in Pittsburgh PA and see what I believe to be the best entrance to the city, any city for that matter.
What a view. Just the best way to see a city nothing, then bam there she is.
The crew looks at the buildings looking for swinging stages scaffolding hanging by a 7/16 wire. “Hey their cleaning the 1st ave did we bid on that job?” Some one calls out. We pass by and don’t recognize the high rise window cleaning company, but that doesn’t matter theres a lot of glass out there. Maybe the first year of my business I would have circled the building to see who it was getting a job that I didn’t, but that was then and I would like to think that I am a little wiser now.
We get to the building that we are doing today and have a safety meeting. This is an imporant part of high rise window cleaning. We check the gear and begin. We throw our ropes over the edge: one safety and one life line. This building has birds crazy birds that dive bomb you, just part of the job I guess . High rise window cleaning in Pittsburgh PA has its perks and most people see it as a dangerous job and would say I could never do that your crazy(as birds). The reality is the most dangerous thing we did was drive to work.
Scared of heights ”hell yeah” look over a building and you have to respect it. You afraid of that cop behind you? It’s a respect and a good one to have.
Been doing this for almost 8 years, learned a lot about this industry. We do things a little different our safety standards are a little higher than the rest. Well we do things that I feel are safer as well as the industry best practices. Buildings as tall as 25 stories thats as high as we have ever done. Anything above three stories and we can do it. A to Z cleaning started out doing all the job, all the building maintenance that no other window cleaning company wanted, and still do. We love what we do and do it with pride and when you see a high-rise window cleaner in Pittsburgh wave it might be me.
